How to make a cute rabbit toy

Difficulty: Easy   Recommended stitches: Back stitch or running stitch

This is what the finished product should look like:

Obviously they won't look identical but they should look similar.

  1. Make a arch shape template on card or paper. The arch should be 10 cm high and 8 cm across.
  2. Then make the ears. These are two smaller arches measuring 6 cm high and 3 cm across. But you only need to make one template for that the same with the body
  3. Now cut out your templates.
  4. After that pin your templates to your fabric and cut out your rabbit. I recommend cutting the ears and the mouth out of felt like I've done, but the body doesn't have to be made of felt though.
  5. Now you can start sewing! First decide were you want the eyes to go. Once you have done that sew them on.
  6. Then sew on the mouth.
  7. The face is complete well done! Now pin the body together make sure you sandwich about 2 cm of the ears inside the body so you can sew them on as well. Sew from one bottom corner of your rabbit to the other.
  8. Now you can leave it like this and it can be an egg cosy. However, if you want a toy you need to stuff it.
  9. Once your rabbit is stuffed sew the bottom of your rabbit up.
  10. Well done you have made your very own toy rabbit! Give your self a round of applause!

If you want to be even more creative try adding whiskers or a tail or even make different animals like the ones below:

Feel free to ask any questions I will read them all and try and answer as many as I can.

Have fun!
